Romer Shoal remained on the Lighthouse Doomsday list until it was recently reinstated as an active navigational aid. It remains as a symbol of hope for all the other lights that are facing extinction. Although the New York skyline is visible in the distance, a feeling of isolation settles in when you sail past this historic lighthouse.
